Initial COBRA Notice Added To Notice Generator

We're happy to announce that we've added the Initial COBRA Notice (some call it the "New Hire" notice) to the COBRA Notice Generator. Users can now quickly create the Initial Notice for newly covered employees. Dec. 21, 2010: COBRA Online Notice Generator Upgrades

COBRA Notice Generator users can now "uncheck" any plan (medical, dental, etc.) when creating a notice. So, if you've entered and saved medical and dental premiums, but are creating a notice for an ex-employee who was not enrolled in dental (and therefore not eligible for COBRA Dental), you can now simply uncheck the box and only the medical premiums will print on the notice. Upgrades to the COBRA Notice Generator have been completed. Employers can now save Insurance Plan data, simplifying the process of creating COBRA notices. Also, a Broker Admin. Account is now available. The Broker Account is perfect for brokers who send COBRA notices on their clients' behalf, or want the option to set up the accounts up for their employer clients. COBRA Notice Generator Upgrades: Admin accounts and saved premium data

Upgrades to CobraAid's COBRA Notice Generator are being completed and will be live within a few days. A new Admin Panel will allow brokers and agents who send COBRA notices on behalf of employers to manage multiple accounts with just one login.

Also, Users will now be able to save insurance premiums instead of having to re-enter the premiums each time a notice is created, shaving a few seconds off the whole process.

CobraAid's software team has been hard at work creating a brand new, web-based COBRA qualifying event notice generator. Registered users will be able to login to a secure web page, enter employee and health plan data, and save, print and email up to date COBRA qualifying event notices. No COBRA subsidy extension on the horizon

It has been more than 10 weeks since COBRA subsidy eligibility expired. It does not appear that an extension to the 65% COBRA subsidy is likely. Employers should make sure they are sending a "non-subsidy" COBRA notice to employees who are terminated June 1, 2010 or later.

Remember that individuals who were involuntarily terminated prior to June 1, 2010 will continue to receive the COBRA subsidy for up to 15 months.

COBRA subsidy eligibility expires June 1, 2010

June 1, 2010 COBRA subsidy eligibility expired June 1, 2010. As of this date, employees who are involuntarily terminated June 1, 2010 or later are not eligible for the 15 month COBRA subsidy. Congress is set to consider another extension (through the end of the year) next week. Employers have two choices:

U.S. Congress failed to include an extension of the COBRA subsidy in the latest jobs bill. Employees who are terminated June 1, 2010 or later are not eligible for the 65% COBRA subsidy.
